Golf is the classic American card game where — just like the sport — the lowest score wins. Each player lays out six cards in a 2×3 grid and tries to swap the high cards away: draw from the deck or the discard pile, replace a card in your grid, and try to line up equal ranks in the same column, because a matching pair in a column cancels out to zero.

Here you can play 6-Card Golf online free, straight from the browser: hit Quick Play and you are seated with up to three opponents in seconds, or create a room and share its code with friends. Scoring follows the traditional table — aces 1, twos minus 2, kings zero, pairs in a column zero — and a full game is nine deals, called holes. The lowest total after nine holes wins the round of golf.

6-Card Golf in a nutshell

Two to four players, one 52-card deck, six cards each in a 2×3 grid. Turn any two of your cards face up to start. On your turn draw one card — from the face-down stock or the top of the discard pile — and either swap it with one card in your grid (the new card is placed face up) or, if you drew from the stock, throw it away and flip one of your face-down cards. As soon as one player has all six cards face up, everyone else takes one final turn and the hole is scored: aces 1, twos −2, 3-10 face value, jacks and queens 10, kings 0, and any pair of equal ranks in the same column scores zero. After nine holes the lowest total wins.

Frequently asked questions

How many cards do you deal in 6-Card Golf?

Six cards to each player, face down, arranged in a 2×3 grid — two rows and three columns. One 52-card deck serves two to four players.

Which cards do you turn up at the start of Golf?

Each player turns any two of their six cards face up before the first turn. The remaining four stay face down and cannot be looked at until they are replaced or flipped.

What are the card values in 6-Card Golf?

Aces 1, twos minus 2, 3-10 face value, jacks and queens 10, kings 0. A pair of equal ranks in the same column scores zero for that column.

Do pairs have to be in the same column?

Yes — in 6-Card Golf only two cards of equal rank sitting in the same column cancel out. Equal cards in different columns each count their full value.

When does a hole of Golf end?

As soon as one player's sixth card is face up, each of the other players takes one more turn, and then all grids are scored.

Can you discard the card you drew in Golf?

Only if you drew it from the face-down stock — and you must then flip one of your face-down cards face up. A card taken from the discard pile must be used to replace one of your grid cards.

How many holes are played in a game of Golf?

Nine holes is the standard game — like a round of golf. Whoever has the lowest cumulative score after nine holes wins.

Can your score be negative in Golf?

Yes. Twos count minus 2 points, so a layout holding twos can total below zero — unless the pair rule zeroes that column, which it always does regardless of rank.

Is this Golf card game really free?

Yes — you can play 6-Card Golf online free at golfcard.yeeqia.com directly in your browser, no download or sign-up required to try a table.

Does Golf work on mobile?

Yes — the site is mobile-first and works in any modern browser on Android or iPhone, with no app required.
